Looking for an adventure in the great outdoors?
Waterways Adventure is an in-school environmental science program that encourages hands-on exploration of the local watersheds for students. ASD supports teachers to help their students discover the connections between classroom work and the natural world around them by providing:
- supplies, equipment and activities for classroom use
- teacher professional development opportunities
- links to community experts
- field trips
Through a variety of outdoor and hands-on learning activities, 4th through 6th grade students acquire knowledge about plant and animal life, water and rock cycle, and the impact that man has on the environment. During the annual Outdoor Learning Day, students experience art, writing, science and math through outdoor adventures.
Each year ASD hosts a spring symposium where students showcase their classroom research and learn from local and state experts.
