ter School Discovery

Established in 1994, After School Discovery's mission is to provide and promote high quality enrichment opportunities that encourage all children and their families to become life-long learners through creative thinking, problem solving and other higher level thinking skills.

TheCelebrate Program provides students with extended after school education and learning opportunities with the goal of improving their academic achievements and life skills. Students enjoy being with friends, having outdoor adventures, and participating in fun activities - while parents see the benefit of their child exploring the arts, learning responsible behavior, having help with homework, and reinforcing academic learning. Our data has shown that students who regularly attend Celebrate improve in their math and reading skills. Parental and community involvement is the key to the success of our program.

Celebrate goals:

  • improve student achievement in math and reading while developing your child's love of the arts through music, visual/performing arts, and foreign language classes.
  • provide a safe and secure learning environment focusing on responsible behavior and positive attitudes with character education programs.
  • increase the level of parent and community involvement.

Celebrate is open to all students at selected schools within the Ashtabula Area City School District Monday through Thursday, three hours each day, for about 25 weeks during the school year.

Busing home at the 6:00 pm dismissal time is available through Ashtabula Area City Schools buses. There is no fee for this service.

ASD collaborates with the Ashtabula Area City Schools for a 2-week Summer Program that is open to students in grades 3 - 8, including those in Celebrate.

There is a $10 registration fee to participate in Celebrate. Major funding for this program is through the Ohio Department of Education and facilitated by After School Discovery, Inc. Other specific programs for Celebrate have been funded through the following:
