After School Discovery has been blessed to be part of our Ashtabula County Children's lives for over 25 years. Providing academic coaching and enrichments of art, music, theatre, dance and STEM -- AND, doing it our way!
Discovery Cove is a before and after school youth development center administered by After School Discovery, Inc. and located in the Huron Building in the AACS Primary Campus, 2300 Wade Avenue, Ashtabula.
Discovery Cove is a center that provides services Monday through Friday, 7:00 am until the start of school (7:45 am breakfast release time for Preschool - 2nd grade students and 9:00 am breakfast release time for 3rd - 6th grade students); and end of school (2:15 pm for Preschool - 2nd grade and 3:55 pm for 3rd - 6th grade) until 6:00 pm. The center is closed on all school holidays, vacations and weather calamity days. We will be open on 2-hour delay days, and in the case of school then being cancelled after a 2-hour delay was called, we will remain open for the day.
DURING COVID-19 we will follow all COVID-19 protocols as recommended by ODJFS, ODE and the City Health Department.
This service is fee based, with parents paying for only the hours of service received. There is a $25 non-refundable yearly application fee ($40 per family if siblings from the same household are participating in any of our programs). In addition, the cost is $5.00 per hour for the first child and $4.75 per hour for each additional child from the same household.
The services shall consist of a blend of age-appropriate educational, social, and recreational activities. The program is complimentary to school-age children's home and school experiences and is effective in meeting their individual, developmental, and time-of-day needs. The planned curriculum provides balance to the academic emphasis of the student's regular day. It is hoped that this bridge between school and home life will help family times to be relaxed and positive.
