Discovery Cove

After School Discovery has been blessed to be part of our Ashtabula County Children's lives for over 25 years.  Providing academic coaching and enrichments of art, music, theatre, dance and STEM -- AND, doing it our way!

The Discovery Cove doors will be closed as of September 30, 2020.

It is now time for ASD to take a break in our programming until further notice.
This will give us time to regroup and reorganize to the needs of our students, their families and the Ashtabula Community. If the needs arise in the next school year we will do our best to again provide the caring environment for academic and enrichment learning.

ASD THANKS our families, donors, local foundations, AACS District staff, and the Ashtabula County Community for their support in making these 25 years possible in providing over 40,000 student learning opportunities!

Discovery Cove is a before and after school youth development center administered by After School Discovery, Inc. and located in the Huron Building in the AACS Primary Campus, 2300 Wade Avenue, Ashtabula.

Discovery Cove is a center that provides services Monday through Friday, 6:15 am until the start of school (7:45 am breakfast release time for Pre-K - 2nd grade students and 9:00 am breakfast release time for 3rd - 6th grade students); and end of school (2:15 pm for Pre-K - 2nd grade and 3:45 pm for 3rd - 6th grade) until 6:00 pm. The center is closed on all school holidays, vacations and weather calamity days.  We will be open on 2-hour delay days, and in the case of school then being cancelled after a 2-hour delay was called, we will remain open for the day.

DURING COVID-19 and VIRTUAL LEARNING, all other programs are on hold.

This service is fee based, with parents paying for only the hours of service received.   There is a $25 non-refundable yearly application fee ($40 per family if siblings from the same   household are participating in any of our programs). In addition, the cost is $5.00 per hour for the first child and $4.75 per hour for each additional child from the same household.

The services shall consist of a blend of age-appropriate educational, social, and recreational activities. The program is complimentary to school-age children's home and school experiences and is effective in meeting their individual, developmental, and time-of-day needs. The planned curriculum provides balance to the academic emphasis of the student's regular day. It is hoped that this bridge between school and home life will help family times to be relaxed and positive.
